TULIN TUZEL, Chief Technology Officer
Tulin Tuzel leads the R&D Center of Excellence to build a product pipeline in the fresh, refrigerated food category and drive the growth of Sabra and Obela brands globally.
She and her team of experts in Culinary, Food science, Nutrition and Engineering develop new products and technology platforms to serve consumer interest in healthy, delicious and convenient foods that enhance full lives.
Tulin is a highly accomplished strategic R&D/QA executive with over 30 years experience in global innovation and technology management roles with Fortune 500 CPG companies. Her background stretches from introducing major new products for Fortune 500 companies to planning and launching a new healthy Mediterranean restaurant concept. She is a passionate leader with an exceptional track record of building high performance organizations and strategic win-win partnerships.
Prior to joining Sabra, she served as Vice President of Research and Development at Sara Lee Corporation. She led new products / packaging development, and spearheaded the wellness and nutrition strategy for North America.to increase the portfolio of products in the wellness and nutrition space.
Previously, she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at Burger King Corporation and managed Global innovation. She orchestrated Burger King’s “product excellence” strategic imperative to gain a competitive edge in Quick Service Restaurant segment.
In 2002, she brought her innovation skills to a start up brand, Pasha's, a Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant chain where she served as chief operating officer until 2007. Pasha’s was a pioneer in introducing a menu of premium all natural, prepared to order, healthy appetizers and entrees in a QSR format in the US.
Earlier in her career, Tuzel had roles with increasing responsibilities in engineering, project management and R&D at Nestlé, Ocean Spray and Sara Lee Bakery.
Tuzel earned her bachelors degree in chemical engineering from CCNY, a master’s of science in chemical engineering from Polytechnic University in NY and her MBA from University of Connecticut. She has served on various Board assignments, most recently at IFIC (international Food Information Council), and previously at RSI (the Restaurant Services, Inc.)
